About
Fifteen-plus years of keeping Bay Area businesses running.
Smart Tech Support is a Bay Area technology partner for organizations that depend on their systems every day — and want one accountable team behind them.
Who we are

Smart Tech Support's roots go back to 1992, when founder Thomas Hong registered the business in San Francisco as Custom Computers, providing technology consulting to a niche market. When Microsoft released Windows 95, the company evolved into a full-service PC support business — the first of several shifts we've made over the years to keep pace with how businesses actually use technology.
In 2010, we launched smartechsupport.com and began doing business as Smart Tech Support — the name and focus the company operates under today. As smartphones and tablets became part of daily business operations, we expanded our support to cover them alongside the desktops, laptops, and servers we've always serviced.
We work as a long-term partner, not a one-call repair service. The same team that surveys your site and installs your systems is the one that supports them for years afterward, which changes how carefully the work gets done the first time — no gimmicks, no jargon for its own sake, just knowledgeable people who enjoy the work.
Thomas Hong founded the company in 1992 and still leads it today, on the same premise it started with: quality service and rapid response build the kind of long-term relationship that keeps clients with us for decades, not just projects.
How we work
The habits that keep clients with us year after year.
Do it right the first time
Site surveys before installs, documentation after them, and equipment chosen for the job — because rework costs everyone more than doing it properly.
Plain answers
Recommendations come with the reasoning attached, in language a business owner can act on. No jargon walls, no scare tactics.
Know the building
Bay Area properties are our home turf — offices, industrial space, labs, and multi-building sites — and on-site presence is part of the service, not an upsell.
Think in years
Technology decisions are planned against where your business is going, so this year's install still makes sense three upgrades from now.
